Epitalon

Historical Background

Epitalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a synthetic tetrapeptide developed by Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. Originally derived from epithalamin — a natural peptide complex isolated from bovine pineal gland — Epitalon has been studied for over 30 years in gerontological research. Its most-cited mechanism is the activation of telomerase, the enzyme responsible for maintaining telomere length, placing it at the forefront of longevity peptide research.

Administration

Subcutaneous injection. Standard research protocols: 10 mg/day for 10-day courses, repeated 2–4 times per year. Course-based (not continuous) protocols are standard in Russian longevity research tradition. Often combined with Thymalin and Pinealon in comprehensive anti-aging protocols. Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water; store at 2–8°C.
